Installatie The Dark Night of the Soul schermer kunstroute 26 & 27 AUGUSTUS
Momenteel werk ik o.a. aan een boek gebaseerd op de mythologische principes van de reis van de held rondom het thema The Dark Night of the Soul: de afdaling in de onderwereld om geestelijk te kunnen groeien, een eeuwenoud archetypisch thema om tot ware zelfkennis te komen.
Als mens moet je in de spiegel durven kijken en je schaduwkanten onder ogen zien om je geestelijke ontwikkeling niet in de weg te staan. Die zwarte diepte in, jouw schaduwkanten verkennen en durven toelaten is een proces dat eenzaamheid, leegte en verlating kan oproepen maar uiteindelijk je transformeert tot een mens met meer zelfkennis.
In de installatie met fotografie, poëzie en beelden maakt Cees Franke ons deelgenoot van zijn tocht door zijn onderwereld toen hij zich wist te bevrijden van een jarenlange alcohol- en oxazepamverslaving en langzaam maar zeker uit zijn “Dark Night of the Soul” terugkeerde naar de “gewone” wereld.

Currently, I am working on a book based on the mythological principles of the hero's journey, centered around the theme of "The Dark Night of the Soul": the descent into the underworld to achieve spiritual growth, an ancient archetypal theme aimed at attaining true self-knowledge.
As humans, we must be willing to confront ourselves in the mirror and face our shadow sides to not hinder our spiritual development. Exploring and embracing those dark depths, our shadow aspects, is a process that may evoke feelings of loneliness, emptiness, and abandonment, but ultimately, it transforms us into individuals with greater self-awareness.
Through an installation featuring photography, video, poetry, and sculptures, Cees Franke shares his journey through his own underworld when he managed to free himself from years of alcohol and oxazepam addiction, slowly but surely returning from his "Dark Night of the Soul" to the "ordinary" world.
